Mini Memories Album part 3

Hello!

Here are a couple more pages from my album...

This one was inspired by a layout I saw at Convention in Sara Douglas's album she had put together (which inspired me to do this as a class actually!). I created a little collage focal point with some of the die-cuts in the cut, overlapping them over the photo and doily. I added a little tab to the side as well.

Would love to know your thoughts on the album so far... do you scrapbook at all? Are you keen to try a mini album? They're lots of fun!

Owl's Birthday Greetings

Hiya!

I'm writing this post ahead of time seeing as I'll be off on holiday for a couple of weeks... Looking forward to seeing some sunshine and experiencing warm weather!!

This week's ColourQ combo is a cute one with lots of possibilities...

I wanted to play with an idea I've had since seeing the Just Sayin' set in the Spring/Summer catty - I wanted to pair the set with the owl punch, and here is the result...

Hee hee! I love how this turned out! The owl was made using Crumb Cake, black and white card, with the waistcoat punched out of some Coastal Cabana dsp (from the Retro Fresh dsp). The speech bubble was stamped with Summer Starfruit on Whisper White and die-cut with the matching framelit. I used another of the framelits from the Word Bubbles set to cut out the clouds from Naturals White card, then embossed them with the Decorative Dots embossing folder. The sentiment is from Express Yourself, embossed on Basic Black with white embossing powder then cut out with one of the Window Framelits and popped under a strip of Whisper White card then added some Summer Starfruit ribbon.

Here's the recipe:
Stamps: Just Sayin', Express Yourself
Ink: Versamark, Summer Starfruit
Paper: Retro Fresh dsp, Crumb Cake, Coastal Cabana, Basic Black, Summer Starfruit, Naturals White, Whisper White
Accessories: White EP, Summer Starfruit ribbon, Neutrals candy dots
Tools: Word Bubbles framelits, Owl punch, Window Framelits, Decorative Dots embossing folder

I used the sketch from Fab Friday to help me with the layout:

Mini Memories Album part 2

Hi there,

I'm back with a few more pages from my Mini Memories Album...

The page above is a bit of a reminder of the lovely 'do to' list I had for the wedding... off the plane and straight to work lol! My paper trimmer got a bit of a bashing on those place cards (considering I didn't bring a replacement blade with me!).

On this page I added one of the buttons that came with the kit, as well as some gold baker's twine.

Thanks for stopping by... I'll be back tomorrow with my ColourQ card.

Mini Memories Album Part 1

Hiya!

I'm off to Miami today for a week's cruise with my Mum, then to New York for a few more days (I have the best Mum ever!). I thought while I am away I would schedule some posts to show you my Mini Memories Album that I created for a class recently. I'm not a natural scrapbooker, but I found working with this album kit really easy and fun because each page is not much bigger than a card. Because the kit (from the Spring/Summer catalogue) comes with all the pages, embellishments and die-cuts that coordinate, it's really easy to put together the different pages.

Here are the first few I made...

I decided to make this album to show my sister's wedding and the lead up to it. I used the gold washi tape in the Spring/Summer catalogue as an accent as well as to attached some of the photos.

I'd love to know what you think about these pages! I'll be popping in over the next two weeks to share some more pages...

Thanks for stopping by!

Sponged Simple Garden...

Hiya!

I'm a bit late posting my ColourQ card tonight - busy day with work and a Stampin' Up party tonight (thanks for hosting Lyn!). Here are this week's colours...

So pretty!! Well I had to make substitutions for Peach Parfait and Apricot Appeal so I used Crisp Cantaloupe and So Saffron. I was inspired by the two-tone leaves on the box in the inspiration pic so I played around with creating a similar look on my card...

I achieved the shaded look by inking the stamp up with the lighter colour, then sponging the darker colour on the edges directly onto the stamp. The flower at the bottom (from Simple Stems) was inked with So Saffron the sponged with Crisp Cantaloupe and a touch of Pumpkin Pie.

I played along with the Friday Mashup challenge this week...

As well as using the sketch, the second part of the challenge was to use spritzing or splattering so I used Gorgeous Grunge to stamp the centre oval as well as the background paper with Gold Encore ink.

Here's the recipe:
Stamps: Secret Garden, Simple Stems, Happy Watercolour
Ink: Crisp Cantaloupe, So Saffron, Summer Starfruit, Always Artichoke, Gold Encore
Paper: Sweet Sorbet dsp, Always Artichoke, Whisper White, Naturals White
Accessories: pearls
Tools: Ovals framelits, Labels framelits, Secret Garden framelits, square lattice embossing folder

Make sure you check out the gorgeous creations from the rest of the Royal Court this week!

Flowers & Framelits...

Hiya!

It's time for another fun ColourQ challenge, and this week's inspiration and colours are so pretty together...

I wanted to build a multi-layered flower and combine it with a fun frame idea I had played around with last week, so I ended up with this...

The flower was created by embossing the smaller images from Daydream Medallions on Real Red card with white EP, then I die-cut them with the matching Floral Framelits. I added another flower in between these (the script flower from Flower Shop punched with the pansy punch) and added a Soft Sky button in the centre. I added some leaves cut with the Little Leaves sizzlit die using Naturals White card, and I added some Dazzling Details to the leaves for a bit of sparkle.

The frame behind the flower was created by first die-cutting a piece of Pool Party cardstock with one of the Labels framelits, then a window cut from the middle with one of the deco labels framelits. This frame was popped up with dimensionals on the Whisper White panel. The inner part of the frame is a piece of Soft Sky card, cut with the same Deco Label framelit as the inside of the frame, then embossed with the Sale-a-Bration dotty embossing folder. This was then glued into the middle of the frame, and the flower popped over the top with dimensionals.

The sentiment is the only touch of Pacific Point - stamped with a sentiment from Express Yourself.

I used this week's Case this Sketch to help me (but admittedly, there's not much CAS about this card - apart from the white space maybe!)...

Here's the recipe:
Stamps: Daydream Medallions, Flower Shop, Express Yourself
Ink: Versamark, Real Red, Pacific Point
Paper: Whisper White, Real Red, Soft Sky, Pool Party, Naturals Ivory
Accessories: Subtles buttons, rhinestones, White EP, Dazzling Details
Tools: Little Leaves sizzlit, Floral Frames Framelits, Pansy Punch, Deco Labels Framelits, Labels framelits, Decorative Dots embossing folder

Love Language Congratulations

Hiya!

I've had a rare day off today and as well as doing some baking, I also had some crafty time and was able to play around with a few challenges. I combined the Mojo Monday sketch with the colours from PPA, which also fit perfectly with the current Card Concept challenge - to use monochromatic pinks...

I used some more new goodies from the Spring/Summer catty to make a card that could be used for a wedding or engagement...

I used the sweet Language of Love set for the hearts - the larger one was embossed on Rose Red card with silver EP and punched out with the matching heart punch and the smaller ones stamped on Blushing Bride with Rose Red ink and punched out with the small heart punch. The greeting was stamped on Very Vanilla with Basic Grey and die-cut with one of the Word Bubble framelits (these are so versatile!). The layers behind are: vellum cardstock, punched in each corner using the Envelope Punch Board; a banner cut from Blushing Bride card using the new Banners framelits and stamped with the Dictionary background stamp; and a piece of Basic Grey core'dinations card embossed with the mosaic embossing folder and lightly sanded. The Naturals Ivory panel behind was pierced around the edges using my piecing tool, template and mat. I added a little arrow cut from Silver Glimmer paper (cut in half) using one of the dies from the Thinlits card collections (love how this turned out!)

Here's the recipe:
Stamps: Language of Love, Love & Laughter, Dictionary
Ink: Versamark, Blushing Bride, Rose Red, Basic Grey
Paper: Blushing Bride, Rose Red, Basic Grey core'dinations card, Naturals Ivory, Very Vanilla, vellum, Silver Glimmer paper
Tools: Envelope Punch Board, Word Bubble framelits, Thinlit card dies (label), Full heart punch, Small heart punch

I think this one falls under the 'clean and layered' category... although it may be leaning towards 'freestyle collage' a bit as well... maybe..?

Simple Pink Blooms

Hiya!

It's time for another ColourQ challenge and this week we're going pink & red...

When I first saw these colours I was wondering how to fit that many red/pinks on one card, then I took out the new Simple Stems set and had a play combining different colours and adding shading with a blender pen. When I finished cutting and layering them then I set about looking for a sketch to play with and came across the Retro Sketches layout this week so I decided to play along, and here's what I came up with...

This is what I love about playing along with challenges - I would never have come up with this card on my own, but by combining a sketch and colour combo I can create something a bit different from my usual style. I've used a few new Spring/Summer catty goodies on this one: Simple Stems, Gold baker's twine, gold sequins and some Fresh Prints dsp.

The largest flower was stamped three times with Blushing Bride ink and I added a little shading with Melon Mambo ink (although you can't really see it in the pic!). The largest layer was die-cut with one of the secret Garden framelits while the next two layers were cut with my paper snips and layered up with dimensionals. The other flowers were both stamped twice and layered: one with Melon Mambo and one with Real Red, and both were shaded with Raspberry Ripple ink.

Here's the sketch I followed...

Here's the recipe:
Stamps: Simple Stems, Hello Lovely
Ink: Blushing Bride, Raspberry Ripple, Real Red, Melon Mambo
Paper: Fresh Prints dsp, Blushing Bride, Raspberry Ripple, Whisper White, Naturals White
Accessories: Gold baker's twine, gold sequins
Tools: Secret Garden framelits

That's all from me - make sure you visit the rest of the Royal Court and be inspired by their fab creations this week!
