Simple Lattice Blooms

Hiya!

Happy Tuesday! It's time for another great colour challenge over at the ColourQ and this week's colours are so pretty...

I seem to be in a very florally place at the moment (I keep thinking 'what flower set can I use with this combination?'), so I pulled out Simple Stems and a Bigz die I hadn't played with in a while...

I used Blushing Bride instead of Pretty in Pink, and started by rolling the Very Vintage wheel across the bottom half of the card (this will be retiring soon!) with Blushing Bride ink. I then added a Naturals White Window Frame shape to the side as well as a Whisper White Lattice die-cut (sadly, also retiring!) and trimmed both to fit. The flowers are from Simple Stems, stamped in Pumpkin Pie and Calypso Coral, with the centre one layered in three pieces with a large pearl in the middle. The leaves were die-cut from Old Olive card with the Little Leaves sizzlit (also retiring.. so sad!) and given some dimension by shaping them with an embossing tool on a foam mat. The sentiment is from Petite Pairs, die-cut with the smallest banner framelit, and I layered a dsp banner behind that. I couldn't resist adding a few more pearls to finish!

I used this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch for my layout:

Here's the recipe:
Stamps: Simple Stems, Petite Pairs, Very Vintage wheel
Ink: Blushing Bride, Pumpkin Pie, Calypso Coral, Old Olive
Paper: Whisper White, Naturals Ivory, Blushing Bride, Old Olive, Epic Day dsp
Accessories: Pearls
Tools: Lattice Bigz die, Window Framelits, Secret Garden Framelits, Banner framelits

I'm also entering this into the current Seize the Birthday 'Anything Goes' challenge.

Make sure you check out the fab creations by the rest of the Royal Court this week!

Antique Bermuda Butterfly...

Hello!

I really liked the look of this week's Freshly Made Sketch and so I paired it with the gorgeous colour combo over at Just Add Ink...

After seeing the retiring lists released in the US, I wanted to play with some of the MANY lovely things that will be leaving our catty at the end of June {sniff!}...

Two of the things I was very sad to see on the list were the Bigz butterfly die and the sizzlit doily die... they are both so pretty and versatile! Also on the retiring list is the Naturals Composition dsp and core'dinations cardstock.

Here's the recipe:
Stamps: Dictionary
Ink: Bermuda Bay
Paper: Naturals Composition dsp, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Naturals Ivory, Bermuda Bay core'dinations
Accessories: Antique brad, vintage buttons
Tools: Doily sizzlit, Bigz Beautiful Butterflies die, Beautifully Baroque embossing folder

ColourQ Irises...

Hi there,

It's time for another great colour combo at the ColourQ and this week it's a perfect one for spring...

I thought the the purple/yellow combination would be perfect for flowers - either violets or irises - so I pulled out Backyard Basics which has a beautiful flower (looks like an iris to me but I could be wrong - I'm not exactly an expert on flowers!)...

As you can see, there's only a touch of Daffodil Delight, but sometimes that's all you need! The flower image was stamped on Naturals White with stazon then coloured with a blender pen and ink and die-cut with the matching framelit. It was layered on a Whisper White oval, then a shape cut with one of the Apothecary Accents framelits using Elegant Eggplant card. I couldn't help adding a big fat bow and some big fat pearls to finish!

I used the layout from Seize the Sketch to help with this one...

Here's the recipe:
Stamps: Backyard Basics
Ink: Stazon, Pear Pizzazz, Elegant Eggplant, Daffodil Delight
Paper: Fresh Prints dsp, Crumb Cake, Elegant Eggplant, Whisper White, Naturals Ivory
Accessories: Large pearls, Pear Pizzazz chevron ribbon
Tools: Backyard Basics framelits, Apothecary Accents framelits, Ovals framelits

Cute Coastal Baby...

Hi there!

I had a few more cards to make for my sister's Aussie order and one was a boy baby card. I wanted to use the Baby We've Grown set and when I saw the sketch at PPA this week I knew the layout would be perfect for it...

The PPA challenge has an extra twist this week, and that is to make it monochromatic. I chose Coastal Cabana and used some dsp from the Fresh Prints stack in the Spring/Summer catalogue...

Here's the recipe:
Stamps: Baby We've Grown
Ink: Coastal Cabana
Paper: Fresh Prints dsp, Coastal Cabana, Whisper White
Tools: 1 3/4" circle punch, Starburst framelits, delicate doilies sizzlit

Secret Garden Hive...

Hello!

I wanted to play with the Hexagon Hive thinlit die and found a pretty sketch at Cardabilities as well as a colour combo at Hand Stamped Sentiments to inspire me...

I wanted to stamp something on the Hexagon Give die-cut so I looked through my stamps for some possibilities and decided on some of the motifs from Hello Lovely...

I was really pleased with how this one turned out (even though I forgot to put the large banner from the sketch into my design!). I was actually pretty quick to put together because of the flowers and leaves having coordinating dies (love these!)... I added some pearls and a greeting and that was that!

Here's the recipe:
Stamps: Secret Garden, Hello Lovely, Petite Pairs
Ink: Coastal Cabana, Gumball Green, Crushed Curry, Daffodil Delight
Paper: Coastal Cabana, Whisper White
Accessories: Pearls
Tools: Secret Garden framelits, Hexagon Hive thinlit die

Swallowtail Notebook...

Hiya!

It's time for another ColourQ challenge and this week's colours are really pretty...

Now usually I try to use all current product for my blog but it's no secret that I LOVE Baja Breeze (so sad it's not in our catty anymore!) so I pulled out some old dsp and made another notebook for my up-coming craft fair...

I figured if I was going to use one retired product, I might as well use a bunch of them! So I dug out some Peach Parfait dsp (from an old SAB set) and stamped the Swallowtail butterfly on this dsp as well as So Saffron card and cut out the two layers you can see. I added some Peach Parfait glittered brads to the body, as well as one to the corner of the sentiment, and wrapped some So Saffron grosgrain ribbon around the front. The sentiment flags were created using the Banners framelits.

Make sure you stop by and be inspired by the rest of the Royal Court this week!

Retro Butterfly Concept...

Hi there!

I really wanted to play along with the current Card Concept challenge (butterflies!!!) and time was running out so I whipped something up last night, finishing it off after work today! I used Chupa's fab Sketchbook Saturday sketch for my layout...

I immediately thought of washi tape for those strips and so pulled out the Retro fresh set and papers and came up with this...

Pretty bright and funky eh?! I reckon this one fits the 'Freestyle Collage' style.

Here's the recipe:
Stamps: Itty Bitty Banners
Ink: Soft Suede
Paper: Retro Fresh dsp, Coastal Cabana, Tangerine Tango, Soft Suede, So Saffron, Very Vanilla, Naturals Ivory
Accessories: Retro Fresh Washi Tape, Antique brad
Tools: Word Window punch, Itty Bitty banner dies, Bigz butterfly die, Beautiful Wings embosslit

Peaceful Mojo Birthday...

Hiya,

Just popping in quickly to share a card I made this afternoon for a couple of challenges: the Mojo Monday sketch and the beautiful colour combo from the Paper Players...

Those colours were really begging for something floral so I pulled out Peaceful Petals and had some colouring and fussy cutting fun...

I stamped the larger flower on watercolour card twice with versamark in and embossed with clear EP. I coloured with Calypso Coral ink and an aqua painter, then cut with my paper snips and layered. The smaller flower was stamped on Calypso Coral card and embossed with white, then cut out. The leaves were created the same way as the large flower, but with Always Artichoke ink. The dsp in the background is from Afternoon Picnic and the sentiment (stamped on Naturals Ivory) is from Simply Sketched. I added a some Very Vanilla seam binding ribbon and a very vintage button and linen thread to the big flower to finish.

Here's the recipe:
Stamps: Peaceful Petals, Simply Sketched
Ink: Versamark, Always Artichoke, Calypso Coral
Paper: Afternoon Picnic dsp, watercolour, Calypso Coral, Coastal Cabana, Always Artichoke, Naturals Ivory
Accessories: Very Vanilla seam binding, very vintage button, linen thread
Tools: Banners framelits

Lacy Butterfly Notes...

Hi there!

I'm back to share another altered journal I created on the weekend for my upcoming craft fair. This time I went very soft colours and lots of fussy details, using the layout from Seize the Sketch and colours from Fab Friday...

I have some plain notebooks that I picked up at a supermarket that are a similar colour to Baked Brown Sugar, and have 'notes' printed on the front, so I picked one of those and added a couple of panels, some stamping and embellishments and ended up with this...

The flowers are from Peaceful Petals, stamped on Whisper White and fussy cut with my paper snips (that took some concentration let me tell ya!). I coloured the stems and leaves with a Pistachio Pudding marker, shaped the flowers from the back with my embossing tool and piercing mat, then adhered to some Sahara Sand card and added pearls to the centre of the flowers (I really should have taken a close-up shot of those flowers!). The dsp panel is from Venetian Romance and I added some lace tape and Pistachio Pudding ruffled ribbon around the bottom section. I rounded the corners of both panels with the Envelope Punch board (such a nifty tool!).

The journal cover was stamped with Delicate Doilies using Whisper White ink and I created the butterflies using Backyard Basics and matching framelit, with a layer of vellum over the top.

Here's the recipe:
Stamps: Peaceful Petals, Backyard Basics, Delicate Doilies
Ink: Whisper White, stazon, Pistachio Pudding, Baked Brown Sugar
Paper: Venetian Romance dsp, vellum, Whisper White, Sahara Sand
Accessories: lace tape, Pistachio Pudding ribbon, pearls, white chalk marker
Tools: Backyard Basics framelits, envelope punch board

Colour Q Cupcake

Hiya!

This week's combo at the ColourQ is sooo pretty:

There are so many things you could do with this combo (check out the rest of the design team for more ideas!) but I chose to go with a birthday theme using a new stamp set in my collection - Another Great Year...

Pretty clean and simple for me, really but I just had to let that fab sentiment take centre stage! I embossed it onto Bermuda Bay Top Note die-cut shape with silver EP, and again onto Whisper White, embossing with silver again. I then cut out the banners from the white image and coloured in the letters with a Tangerine Tango marker and added some faint shading (very pale Tangerine Tango... looks close to Peach Parfait I thought!) with an aquabrush. I then layered the banners over the Bermuda Bay piece with dimensionals on the ends and glue in the centre to get a multi-layered look.

The cupcake is from Create a Cupcake, stamped with a combination of Tangerine Tango, Bermuda Bay and Pool Party inks (the flower is 2nd generation Tangerine Tango, which looks like Peach Parfait). I cut out the cupcake with the matching cupcake punch, cut out the flower by hand and added a rhinestone to the centre. The final touch was the embossed stitching borders on the white card base, using one of the Needlepoint Border embossing folders.

Here's the recipe:
Stamps: Another Great Year, Create a Cupcake
Ink: Versamark, Tangerine Tango, Pool Party, Bermuda Bay
Paper: Bermuda Bay, Whisper White
Accessories: Rhinestones, silver embossing powder
Tools: Cupcake builder bunch, Needlepoint Border embossing folder

Butterfly Believe Journal

Hello!

I've got a craft fair coming up in a couple of weeks and need to make some journals (among other things!) to take with me, so I combined some challenges to help me get started: the Color Throwdown combo and the Deconstructed Sketch...

One of the things I love about Jen's sketches are all the layers, so my finished journal also works well for Just Add Ink's challenge this week: just add layers! Here's what I came up with...

I used Gumball Green instead of Old Olive because I wanted to use the Epic Day This & That papers, and I added Basic Grey as my neutral. The sentiment (from Feel Goods) was stamped on Basic Grey with Versamark ink and embossed with Pool Party embossing powder, then cut with a circle framelit. The scallop layer behind was die-cut with the large scallop edgelit. The butterfly was created using the Bigz butterfly die (Gumball Green card) and the Beautiful Wings embosslit (some Epic Day dsp), then fixed together with an antique brad. I used another antique brad along with a punched little banner, as well as a Daffodil Delight bow and a Gumball Green dahlia in the centre.

Here's the recipe:
Stamps: Feel Goods
Ink: Versamark
Paper: Epic Day dsp, Basic Grey, Gumball Green
Accessories: Daffodil Delight seam binding ribbon, antique brads, in-colour dahlias, Pool Party EP
Tools: Circles framelits, Bigz butterfly die, Beautiful Wings embosslit die, banner punch
