Field Flower Thanks...

Hello!

We have a great colour challenge this week at the Paper Players, brought to us by Anne Marie...

I really wanted to use a new set in my stash from the new catty - Field Flowers - and I thought these colours would work well so here's what I ended up with...

I'm really pleased with how this turned out, even if it did take me ages! The flowers were stamped firstly with the solid image in More Mustard, then the outline image over the top with second generation Bravo Burgundy ink. The centres were stamped separately with Bravo Burgundy and the stem/leaves with Old Olive. I cut all of the pieces out with my paper snips and layered over the punched circle that I pierced using the piercing template. This was layered on a Bravo Burgundy doily. The background layers are a combination of First Edition and Orchard Harvest dsp as well as a piece of Old Olive card stamped with the flourish from Elements of Style (I sponged some matching  ink around the edges of the Olive and Mustard panels). I added a little sentiment banner using a sentiment from Kindness Matters and I couldn't resist adding some Very Vanilla seam binding ribbon in a lovely big bow!

I used the Sweet Sunday sketch for my layout...

Dynamic Poppies...

Hi there,

It's time for another Dynamic Duos challenge and this week we're playing with this lovely combo:

I thought this was the perfect opportunity to use the gorgeous Pleasant Poppies stamp, and very appropriate for Rememberance Day tomorrow...

I stamped the poppies on First Edition dsp in Versamark and embossed with black EP, punching out with a 2 1/2" circle punch. I stamped them again on watercolour card, embossed and cut out with my paper snips, colouring them with an aquabrush and ink. I popped the cut-out flowers over the circular image with dimensionals. The background is Sahara Sand card embossed with the Fancy Fan embossing folder and layered with a panel of Basic Grey (I love how with Dynamic Duos you have the option of adding a variety of neutrals to the colour duo!). The sentiment is from Curly Cute, stamped in Cherry Cobbler on Very Vanilla. I cut out a butterfly from a piece of first Edition dsp and added some pearls and some black taffeta ribbon to finish. I used this week's Freshly Made Sketch for my layout...

Daffodil Pearl Fusion...

Hiya,

It's Friday and that means it's time to Mashup!

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge:
  1. Make a project with "Dry Embossing".
  2. Or Make a project using the colors " Daffodil Delight, Basic Grey & Basic Black".*
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a project with "Dry Embossing & The Color Combo".

This one took me AGES to finish - don't know why because I love these colours together, but just seemed to faff about with it forever until I got to something I liked...

I used this week's Retro Sketch for my layout...

I started with some Howlstooth & Scaringbone dsp and layered a doily cut from Naturals Ivory over some Very Vanilla card and trimmed around, and layering over the dsp. The greeting was created by stamping one of the frame images from the Apothecary Art set with Basic Grey on Very Vanilla and punching out with the extra large oval punch. I then stamped the greeting (from Made for You) over the top. I die-cut some black card with one of the labels framelits and embossed with one the designer frames folders (that's my bit of embossing for the challenge today!).  I layered this framed greeting over a panel I die-cut with one of the Apothecary Accents framelits from Daffodil Delight card and with a piece of silver glimmer paper over the top. The flowers were die-cut from Daffodil Delight card using the flower fusion sizzlit, assembled and spritzed with silver smooch spray, then added some large pearls in the centre, as well as one under the sentiment. Some die-cut Very Vanilla leaves were added to the flowers and I finished things off with some Daffodil Delight seam binding ribbon.

Make sure you pop over to the Friday Mashup to check out what the rest of the DT have created!

Giving Thanks...

Hi there,

This week's challenge over at the Paper Players is one that EVERYONE can play along with - Ann has challenged us to create a project with the theme of giving thanks...

I decided to make a little gratitude notebook - I love the sentiment on it...

I found these little notebooks at a supermarket a while ago and they were really cheap so I bought a bunch of them to decorate. I used some retired bits and pieces for this - ribbon, dsp and doily as well as a new stamp set - Trust God, as well as one of the Apothecary Accents dies. This was pretty quick to put together - I used one of last month's Viva la Verve sketches for the layout.

The rest of the Design Team have some wonderful inspiration for you this week...

Dynamic Polar Party!

Hiya,

Exciting news!! I am now a member of the Dynamic Duos design team for the next six months - woohoo!! I love colour challenges so I'm really excited to be able to play along with such a talented group of ladies for these fun challenges. (Apologies for this post being late - it's been a hectic week & weekend and is still going - looking forward to a breather on Monday!) Today's challenge uses two of the new in-colours from SU...

These colours look so Christmassy to me so I pulled out one my favourite sets and got colouring...

I used some Raspberry Ripple dsp from Orchard Harvest for the background as well as some Natural Composition dsp for a neutral touch. I coloured the images with blender pens, markers and inkpads and added some 'snow' spots using dazzling details. The sentiment is from Perfect Punches and I stamped it once in each colour, punched out and layered a circle of raspberry card in between. The banner strip is a combination of silver glimmer paper and Gumball Green ribbon. I used the Merry Monday sketch this week for my layout:

Mashed Up Rosettes...

Hiya,

It's my turn to host the Friday Mashup challenge this week and I have a sketch for you plus the option of using rosettes...

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge:
  1. Make a project "using the Sketch".
  2. Or Make a project with "Rosettes".
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a project with the "Sketch featuring Rosettes".

Here's what I came up with...

I combined two rosette ideas on this one - paper & fabric. The paper one was created using First Edition dsp and a scallop circle punch and I layered this over one I created with Crumb Cake tulle ribbon that I stitched and gathered with linen thread, though the middle of the paper rosette and secured with a vintage faceted button. The greeting from Perfectly Penned was embossed with silver EP and I stamped and cut out some butterflies from Kindness Matters with Basic Grey ink. The dsp in the background is the fabulous Natural Composition pack. I used the colours from CR84FN to inspire me for this card.

Make sure you check out what the rest of the team have created over at the Friday Mashup - I do hope you'll be able to play along with us this week!
