Venetian Tangerine Dahlia

Hello!

Sorry I haven't had a lot of projects to share recently - I've been so busy doing overtime at work and prepping for classes that I haven't had any time to 'play' as much as I would like! Thank goodness for challenges that keep me making things lol! This week at the Friday Mashup, Tara has a great combination for us...

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  1. Create a project with "Ripped paper."
  2. Create a project with a "a fussy cut image." (Cut something out)
  3. Or Mash it Up and create a project "with some Ripped paper & something Fussy Cut."

Now I love me some cutting, and ripped paper makes me think of vintagey kind of cards, so I headed in that direction using the beautiful Venetian Romance designer paper and the latest addition to my stamp collection - Regarding Dahlias (you might be seeing this a lot...!)

I stamped the flower twice onto Very Vanilla with Tangerine Tango ink then very quickly added some clear embossing powder and heat embossed to give a bit of texture and shine (neither of which you can see in the photo!). I coloured the flower in with a Crisp Cantaloupe marker along with the matching inkpad and blender pen, then cut out one whole flower and one smaller one to pop over the top. The leaves (from Joyful Christmas) were stamped on Pistachio Pudding with matching ink and also cut out.

I used some other challenges to help me on this one: Ann's fun tic-tac-toe challenge from the Paper Players as well as Karen's sketch from the Sweet Sunday Sketch...

Here's the recipe:
Stamps: Regarding Dahlias, Petite Pairs, Joyful Season
Ink: Tangerine tango, Crisp Cantaloupe, Soft Suede, Pistachio Pudding
Paper: Venetian Romance dsp, Very Vanilla, Pistachio Pudding, Soft Suede
Accessories: Pearls, clear EP, Very Vanilla seam binding

Paper Pieced Poinsettia

Hello!

This week's challenge at the Friday Mashup had me scratching my head for a while!

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  1. Create a project with a "Fall/Harvest Food Theme (Preserves, Apples, Pumpkins etc.)."
  2. Create a project using "Paper Piecing."
  3. Or Mash it Up and create a "Fall Food themed project with some Paper Piecing "

Now I don't have any stamps to do with harvest and certainly nothing that would work for paper piecing (believe me, I scoured the catalogue to see if there were any I could use!), so I decided to use the technique part of the challenge with a Christmas theme (I have a Christmas class tonight so I was in Christmas-card mode this week!)...

This lovely poinsettia stamp is from the Joyful Christmas stamp set in the Autumn/Winter catalogue, and it has so many possibilities. I stamped it once on Cherry Cobbler card, then again on some Season of Style dsp. I cut out the outer and inner flowers then layered together with dimensionals, adding pearls in the centre. The leaves were stamped on Old Olive card that I had stamped lightly with the En Francais (this was actually a piece of scrap card I had lying around and decided to use up). The background is more dsp from Season of Style, layered onto Cherry Cobbler card cut with the scalloped square framelit.

Here's the recipe:
Stamps: Joyful Christmas, More Merry Messages
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Old Olive
Paper: Season of Style dsp, Cherry Cobbler textured card, Old Olive
Accessories: Pearls
Tools: Squares framelits

Make sure you check out the fall-themed creations from the rest of the DT this week!

Retro Baked Poinsettia...

Hello!

It's my turn to host the Friday Mashup this week and I've got a fun recipe for us to play with...

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  1. Create a project with using "A-B-C (use elements on your projects starting with the letters A, B, C). "
  2. Create a project using a "1-2-3 card recipe (1 embellishment, 2 Stamp Sets, 3 Colors) ."
  3. Or Mash it Up and create a project "A-B-C & a 1,2,3 card recipe. "

I chose to make a Christmas card using the colours Always Artichoke, Baked Brown Sugar and Cherry Cobbler (A, B, C). See if you can spot the 1-2-3...

How gorgeous is that poinsettia??! It one of the fab new Christmas stamps in the new Autumn/Winter catalogue (email me if you want to place an order!). I stamped it on Cherry Cobbler card twice and embossed with gold EP then cut out the two layers and layered up with dimensionals. The leaves were stamped on Always Artichoke, embossed and cut out then popped under the flower.

The central strip is Baked Brown Sugar card stamped with the text and star image from O Holy Night using a stamp-a-ma-jig to line them up. The ribbon is Very Vanilla seam binding.

I used this week's Retro Sketch (somewhat loosely!) for my layout...

Here's the recipe:
Stamps: Joyful Christmas, O Holy Night
Ink: Versamark, Baked Brown Sugar
Paper: Cherry Cobbler, Always Artichoke, Baked Brown Sugar, Naturals Ivory
Accessories: Very Vanilla seam binding, gold EP

Make sure you check out what the rest of the design team have cooked up this week!
