Stippled Coral Concept...

Hi there!

It's time for another fun ColourQ challenge and this week's colours are SO pretty...

I was in a creative mood and wanted to add to my card collection so decided to make a set, using a mix of dsp and a soon-to-be-retired set, Stippled Blossoms. I started with a Mothers' Day card as it's Mothers' Day in Australia (where I grew up and where my Mum still lives!) this coming Sunday...

I then used the same design to put together three more for my stash...

I used this week's Card Concept as my inspiration...

I think this design falls under the 'freestyle collage' style...

Stippled Blossom Tag...

Hi there,

I've just remembered that I totally forgot to post my ColourQ card last night! I was called out to a last minute rehearsal and so was rushing round and it totally slipped my mind. Anyway, here are this week's colours...

The yellow/orange combo made me think of the two-step set Stippled Blossoms so that's what I started with...

I used this week's Tag You're It challenge to inspire me for this one.

Here's the recipe:
Stamps: Stippled Blossoms, Petite Pairs, Gorgeous Grunge
Ink: Hello Honey, Tangerine Tango, Always Artichoke
Paper: Under the Tree dsp, Whisper White, Always Artichoke, Soft Sky
Accessories: Mossy Meadow ribbon, linen thread
Tools: Scalloped tag Topper punch, Lovely Lace embossing folder

Make sure you check out the beautiful creations from the rest of the Royal Court!

Stippled Gingham Thanks

Hiya!

I've managed to find some time over in Australia to blog and so I'm popping in with my ColourQ card this week - I just love this week's colour combo!!!

When I saw the two different blues I knew I wanted to use the two-step flower set, Stippled Blossoms, so that's where I started...

I stamped the flowers using Pool Party ink first, then Bermuda Bay, while the leaves were stamped with Old Olive: the first time using second generation ink (stamped off once) then the second time stamping as normal. These were all cut out using my trusty paper snips and layered on the doily. The gingham panel was created by inking up my Stripes embossing folder with Real Red ink then putting some Whisper White card in the folder and running it through my Big Shot. I did this again, turning the piece of card 90 degrees, so when it comes out of the folder it looks like gingham! I'm on a bit of a Gorgeous Grunge kick at the moment so I couldn't resist stamping a few splatters in Pool Party in the card base. I then scattered some rhinestones across the card and added some Dazzling Details to the centre of the rose for some more sparkle (very pretty IRL).

The gingham part was inspired by the current Friday Mashup challenge to use gingham...

Here's the recipe:
Stamps: Stippled Blossoms, Gorgeous Grunge, Simply Sketched
Ink: Pool Party, Bermuda Bay, Old Olive, Real Red
Paper: Whisper White, Real Red, doily
Accessories: rhinestones, dazzling details
Tools: Stripes EF, Thinlets card dies (label)

Even though I'm on holiday, I've still been playing with paper... so far for my sister's wedding I've made over 140 place cards and order of services, a card suitcase and a thank you banner... and a couple of cards using my Mum's stash! I'm going to try and take a few pics of the card suitcase and banner and pop by next week to share them - I was quite pleased with how they turned out!

Make sure you pop over to see what the rest of the Royal Court have created to inspire you this week!

Primrose Cantaloupe Blossom...

Hiya!

This week over at the Friday Mashup Tara is challenging us with a colour combo as well as to use a tag on or as our project...

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  1. Create a project with a "Tag (as an embellishment on your project or as the project itself )."
  2. Create a project using the colors "Crisp Cantaloupe, Soft Sky, Primrose Petals & Bermuda Bay".
  3. Or Mash it Up and create a project "with a Tag using the color combo above".
Well when I first looked at the colours I wasn't sure how I was going to use them all together, but when I looked at them in two groups (pinks and blues) I thought of using a two-step stamp set and it started to come together from there...

The flower was stamped first with Crisp Cantaloupe, then with the second layer in Primrose Petals over the top. The leaves were stamped with Soft Sky and Bermuda Bay (ok so I know that leaves are not blue, but I kinda like the tropical look of it!). I stamped a piece of Soft Sky card with the large postage collage image from Postage Due with Soft Sky ink then ripped around the edges for a shabby vintage look. The embossed piece in the background is some Primrose Petals core-dinations card that I'd embossed with the Argyle EF and sanded ages ago that was sitting in my stash. I added half a doily (also from my scrap collection) and arranged the panels for a scrappy/collagey (is that a word?!) kind of feel. The tag element is a piece of Very Vanilla, stamped with a sentiment from Petite Pairs in Bermuda Bay, punched into a tag and pierced. I added a Crisp Cantaloupe tag (core'dinations card crumpled and sanded... not that you can see much of it!) underneath and used some Bermuda Bay twine (from the Tag-a-Box kit) and a few pearls to finish. I couldn't resist adding a bit of faux stitching around the edge with a Crisp Cantaloupe marker.

Make sure you check out the rest of the design team's creations this week!

Vintage Blues...

Hi there,

This week Heidi's got a fun challenge for us over at the Friday Mashup...

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  1. Create a project using "Lined paper (Notebook, Graph, Spreadsheet etc.)".
  2. Create a project that has a "Distressed appearance".
  3. Or Mash it Up and create a project with "Lined paper that's Distressed looking".
When I saw the 'lined paper' element I thought of the lined paper in the Print Poetry dsp stack so that's what I started with...

I cut out the framed notepaper with my paper snips (love me some fussy cutting!) and stamped the sentiment from Perfectly Penned over the top, then sponged through an oval die-cut window with Crumb Cake ink to distress it a little. The Marina Mist background was randomly stamped with the En Francais background and sponged for more distressing, then layered on Midnight Muse. The flowers (from Stippled Blossoms) were stamped with Marina Mist and Midnight Muse and the leaves with Wild Wasabi and Gumball Green, all cut out and layered with dimensionals. I added a little resin flower from the Artisan Embellishments kit for something a bit different. I couldn't resist adding some lace trim and a Crumb Cake seam binding bow with a button from Artisan Embellishments and some linen thread in the centre.

Check out what the rest of the DT created for this fun challenge over at the Friday Mashup...
