Primrose Poppies...

Hiya,

It's time for another Dynamic Duos challenge and this week we have a fun challenge where you get to add your own spin!

I decided to use Always Artichoke as my additional colour because I wanted to use a flower stamp and needed a green to go with the pink...

The poppies were stamped on watercolour paper with black craft ink and embossed with clear EP then coloured with ink and an aquabrush. I used the ovals framelits to cut the image and the layer (with Crumb Cake card, embossed with the square lattice folder). I layered the image over two hearts cut from the More Amore speciality dsp that I overlapped in the middle - I discovered they make quite a pretty and unusual shape around the ovals! The dsp I used is also from More Amore and I added some Always Artichoke seam binding ribbon in a double bow to finish.

I used the sketch from Hand Stamped Sentiments for my layout...

Make sure you check out the lovely creations by the rest of the Dynamic Duos DT...

Vintage Blues...

Hi there,

This week Heidi's got a fun challenge for us over at the Friday Mashup...

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  1. Create a project using "Lined paper (Notebook, Graph, Spreadsheet etc.)".
  2. Create a project that has a "Distressed appearance".
  3. Or Mash it Up and create a project with "Lined paper that's Distressed looking".
When I saw the 'lined paper' element I thought of the lined paper in the Print Poetry dsp stack so that's what I started with...

I cut out the framed notepaper with my paper snips (love me some fussy cutting!) and stamped the sentiment from Perfectly Penned over the top, then sponged through an oval die-cut window with Crumb Cake ink to distress it a little. The Marina Mist background was randomly stamped with the En Francais background and sponged for more distressing, then layered on Midnight Muse. The flowers (from Stippled Blossoms) were stamped with Marina Mist and Midnight Muse and the leaves with Wild Wasabi and Gumball Green, all cut out and layered with dimensionals. I added a little resin flower from the Artisan Embellishments kit for something a bit different. I couldn't resist adding some lace trim and a Crumb Cake seam binding bow with a button from Artisan Embellishments and some linen thread in the centre.

Check out what the rest of the DT created for this fun challenge over at the Friday Mashup...

Pretty Regal Grunge...

Hi there,

This week at Dynamic Duos we have a pretty monochromatic colour combo for you...

When I was thinking about this combo I really wanted to use grey as my neutral (pink and grey seem to go so well together!), and I wanted to use the Everything Eleanor set, so that's where I started from...

I went a bit grungy by spritzing two of the panels with Silver Smooch - love how this changes the look of these soft and pretty colours! The white panel was stamped with the frame in Basic Grey then I layered some flowerd over the top (stamped on Regal Rose in Basic Grey then I added some shading and details with a Regal Rose marker). I layered the white panel onto some Basic Grey, die-cut with the large scallop edgelit and pierced top and bottom. I couldn't resist adding a little strip of lace tape at the top. The dsp panel is from the patterns stack and stamped with the swirl using Pretty in Pink ink. The sentiment (from Create a Cupcake) was stamped with black craft ink and embosed with clear EP. I added some Regal Rose ribbon and some Basic Grey buttons with some rhinestones in the centre.

I used the sketch from Seize the Birthday for my layout on this one...

Make sure you check out the beautiful creations from the rest of the DD team!

Butterflies, brayer & bling...

Hiya,

This week at the Friday Mashup Holly is bringing us a Triple challenge...

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge:
1. Make a project using the "Sketch".
2. Or Make a project using "Butterflies & Your Brayer".
3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a project with "your Brayer using the Sketch and add some Butterflies".

I decided to play around with my brayer on a piece of embossed card and this is what I ended up with...

I used the cloudy Day embossing folder and Pool Party, Baja Breeze and Island Indigo ink to create the background, then layered a bunch of butterflies in a combination of Rich Razzleberry and Melon Mambo card as well as vellum and silver glimmer paper, adding some rich razzleberry brads or rhinestones to the centres. The sentiment from Oh Hello was stamped with Island Indigo on a strip of white card and I added some scalloped glimmer paper underneath to finish.

Make sure you check out the great creations from the rest of the DT this week!

Saffron Butterflies...

Hello!

This week's Dynamic Duos challenge is a pretty one...

I had to laugh when I saw the 'dessert' option... with the amount of ribbon I use, this one wasn't gonna be a stretch lol! I've recently got my hands on the Basic Black craft inkpad and love the effect of stamping with it and embossing with clear EP - so much easier than embossing with black EP with all the speckles etc!

I started by stamping the frame (from Papaya Collage) onto Naturals Ivory with black craft ink and embossed with clear EP, then trimmed it out. I layered some So Saffron and Whisper White card inside and stamped and embossed the sentiment (from Blooming with Kindness). The butterflies were stamped above then on a piece of Very Vanilla, coloured with So Saffron ink and cut out and layered over the top of the main panel. The dsp in the background is from Tea for Two and I layered some lace from the Artisan Embellishments kit over the top as well as some Basic Black ribbon and a silver button.

Make sure you check out the gorgeous creations of the rest of the DT!

I'm off to rest for a bit before a workshop I have later this evening (I've been sneezing and coughing like crazy this morning so I'm hoping I'll feel a bit better in a few hours! Hubby will be on dinner duty...!)Thanks for stopping by...

Chalkboard Art Mashup...

Hiya,

It's my turn to host the Friday Mashup challenge this week and I am challenging everyone to have a play with the 'chalkboard' art look...

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge:
1. Make a project using the "Chalkboard Technique".
2. Or Make a project using " 2 or more Stamp Sets".
3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a project using "2 or more Stamp Sets with the Chalkboard Technique".

I was looking through my stamps to get some ideas and I saw the sentiment in Trust God that said 'Each one of us is God's special work of art' - I thought that was particularly appropriate for the challenge so that's where I started!

I created the frame around the sentiment by selectively inking one side of the 'You're Amazing' stamp from the set of the same name with white ink, stamped it once, then reinked, turned around and stamped again. Don't ask me how in the heck I managed to get it lined up perfectly cos it was eyeballed and I was pretty shocked that it happened first time lol!! (I highly doubt I'd be able to pull it off again!). Once I'd stamped the frame I heat set it then stamped the sentiment in the middle using Versamark and embossed it with white. I added a few doodles and lines with a white watercolour wonder crayon and rubbed some white craft ink in a few spots for added 'dust'.

I created the flower from Creative Elements by stamping it three times in Lucky Limeade then cutting out the different layers and popping them up with dimension. The leaves (from French Foliage) were stamped with Garden Green. The butterflies were stamped with Garden Green and coloured with Lucky Limeade ink and an aquapainter - I added some rhinestones in the centre for a bit of sparkle. I couldn't resist added some gorgeous ribbon from the Spring/Summer catty - love this stuff!

I used the sketch from Mojo Monday and the colours from Colour Q to help me as well...

Make sure you stop by the Friday Mashup and check out what the other designers have created!

Pool Party Posy...

Hello!

It's time for another Dynamic Duos challenge and we've got some soft and pretty colours for you this week...

My sister asked me to make a card for a friend of hers that has just undergone an operation so I decided to use these colours to help me. I had also just received the Pop-Up Posies kit and wanted to use a tag and flower from it so that's where I started...

I used some Pool Party core'dinations card for the background, embossed with the honeycomb embossing folder and sanded lightly. I created a banner strip with some International Bazaar dsp and layered the tag over the top, on which I had embossed the sentiment in white (from Hopeful Thoughts). The flower is four (or maybe five... can't remember!) layers of the flower die-cuts, fastened with a brad in the centre (from the same kit). To achieve the look in the centre I tucked some petals underneath the brad and some others I bent back behind to get a bit more volume. The leaves were die-cut using the Little Leaves sizzlit die.

Make sure you stop by the other designers' blogs and see their amazing creations!

Oh Hello...!

Hi there,

After a hectic couple of weeks where I feel like I haven't had a moment to chill out, I now have a few hours... hooray! Sorry for being a bit late again with this post, but I've had a class today - scrapbooking using the Flower Fair Simply Scrappin kit - and it just so happened to contain this week's Dynamic Duos colours!

And here's the page I created using these colours...

I stamped the background with the Alhambra wheel for a bit of extra pattern, added some of the stickers from the kit to create the flower & leaves as well as a button and ribbon (also from the kit). I played around with my photo editing program and used a colour focal point tool, with black & white surround and I chose to tint the colour part with a warm yellow so the photos blended in better with the colour scheme - I was really pleased with how they turned out! The story behind this photo is that this was the day I surprised two of my sisters in Melbourne (they didn't know I had come to Australia for Christmas!). I thought the 'oh hello' sentiment was perfect for the occasion.

Make sure you check out the rest of the team's creations this week!

Baby Henry...

Hiya,

Just popping in quickly to share my Friday Mashup card with you...

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge:
1. Make a project for a "Baby Shower or a Baby".
2. Or Make a project using the Colors "Pool Party, Real Red, So Saffron & a Neutral".
3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a project for a "Baby/Shower using the Colors listed above".

Here's my creation...

I made Henry patterned by stamping the large graphic element from Clockworks over the top in Pool Party, then layered him over a heart from the More Amore dsp set. The sentiment is from Bloomin' Marvelous, a Sale-a-Bratioon set. I embossed the Pool Party strip with the clouds embossing folder for a bit of texture, and added a Pool Party bow to finish.

I used the layout from the Paper Players to help me...
