Real Coastal Mojo

Hiya!

Sorry about being pretty quiet on my blog recently - I've been so busy getting ready for my big trip to Australia in a couple of weeks with overtime at work and a bunch of Stampin' Up events, I've not had much time to create and blog! Well this afternoon I decided to take some time out to play along with a couple of challenges I had my eye on: the FAB Mojo Monday sketch as well as the gorgeous colours over at Create with Connie & Mary...

My two favourite colours are red and aqua so I knew I had to play with this colour combo! Initially I was thinking of a Christmas card but then I decided to play around with some flower sets and punches...

The flowers were created using a combination of Mixed bunch and Flower Shop stamps and punches, with a Simply Pressed clay flower in the middle of the larger one (dyed with Coastal Cabana ink). I used some Winter Frost dsp for the vertical banner and stamped a flourish on the Coastal Cabana card in the background to add further detail. I pierced around the tag using my piercing tool and template and added a lovely Smoky Slate chevron ribbon bow to finish.

Here's the recipe:
Stamps: Mixed Bunch, Flower Shop, Oh Hello, Flowering Flourishes
Ink: Coastal Cabana, Real Red, Smoky Slate, Versamark
Paper: Winter Frost dsp, Coastal Cabana, Real Red, Whisper White
Accessories: Simply Pressed Clay, Smoky Slate chevron ribbon
Tools: Blossom punch, Pansy punch, Squares framelits, Piercing tool, mat & template

Clay Fusion Flowers

Hello!

I'm just popping in quickly to post a card I made in a creative evening last night, using the Fusion Challenge with the colours from Pals Paper Arts...

I was inspired by the sketch as well as the script with the overlaying image, and I wanted to use some clay flowers I had made for a technique demonstration at a SU training day, so I came up with this...

Here's the recipe:
Stamps: Oh Hello, Flowering Flourishes
Ink: Calypso Coral, Baked Brown Sugar
Paper: Modern Medley dsp, Calypso Coral, Baked Brown Sugar, Very Vanilla, Naturals Ivory, Vellum cardstock, creped filter paper
Accessories: lace trim, vintage faceted buttons, simply pressed clay, pearls
Tools: Ovals framelits, Floral framelits, sizzlits delicate doilies die, Blossom Party die, Finishing Touches edgelits

I'm keeping it short and sweet tonight cos I need some sleep!!

Freshly Made Winner...

Hello!

I played around with a couple of challenges this weekend: the Freshly Made Sketch (celebrating their 100th challenge!) and the Curtain Call inspiration...

The inspiration board made me think of the You're Amazing set with the hot air balloon so that's where I started...

I combined a couple of dsp designs for this (isn't it fun to see how different collections can work with each other?) - one from Epic Day and the other from Quatrefancy. The balloon was inked with markers (Pool Party, Calypso Coral and Basic Grey) and cut out with my paper snips. I wanted to add something extra to the image panel so I stamped the chevron pattern from Oh Hello in Sahara Sand ink. The 'winner' ticket was stamped in Bermuda Bay and the one underneath was stamped on Sahara Sand with Calypso Coral ink (using a stamp from That's the Ticket) - both were punched out with the ticket punch. I embossed the Naturals Ivory strip with the stitches embossing folder (from the Needlepoint Border collection). Of course, I couldn't help adding some candy dots (best embellishments EVER!) to finish. I shabbified (is that a word..?!) the edges of the panels to distress the whole project a little.

By the way, you may have noticed a few extra features on my blog have appeared over the weekend... I'm in the process of changing some things about my blogging, including adding classes (coming soon!) for download. I wanted to give a big shout-out to the amazing Patsy Waggoner who helped me and my technically challenged brain with adding the buttons and bars that you now see! She was just fab and if you're ever wanting to revamp or redesign your Typepad blog, that's her specialty and I would recommend her wholeheartedly. Even though I decided to stick with Blogger for the moment, she was still so helpful and sweet and was able to help me out with all the things I wanted to add. Thanks so much Patsy!

That's all for now... hope you're enjoying your weekend! Those of us in the UK have a bank holiday tomorrow... yay!

Butterflies, brayer & bling...

Hiya,

This week at the Friday Mashup Holly is bringing us a Triple challenge...

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge:
1. Make a project using the "Sketch".
2. Or Make a project using "Butterflies & Your Brayer".
3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a project with "your Brayer using the Sketch and add some Butterflies".

I decided to play around with my brayer on a piece of embossed card and this is what I ended up with...

I used the cloudy Day embossing folder and Pool Party, Baja Breeze and Island Indigo ink to create the background, then layered a bunch of butterflies in a combination of Rich Razzleberry and Melon Mambo card as well as vellum and silver glimmer paper, adding some rich razzleberry brads or rhinestones to the centres. The sentiment from Oh Hello was stamped with Island Indigo on a strip of white card and I added some scalloped glimmer paper underneath to finish.

Make sure you check out the great creations from the rest of the DT this week!

Oh Hello...!

Hi there,

After a hectic couple of weeks where I feel like I haven't had a moment to chill out, I now have a few hours... hooray! Sorry for being a bit late again with this post, but I've had a class today - scrapbooking using the Flower Fair Simply Scrappin kit - and it just so happened to contain this week's Dynamic Duos colours!

And here's the page I created using these colours...

I stamped the background with the Alhambra wheel for a bit of extra pattern, added some of the stickers from the kit to create the flower & leaves as well as a button and ribbon (also from the kit). I played around with my photo editing program and used a colour focal point tool, with black & white surround and I chose to tint the colour part with a warm yellow so the photos blended in better with the colour scheme - I was really pleased with how they turned out! The story behind this photo is that this was the day I surprised two of my sisters in Melbourne (they didn't know I had come to Australia for Christmas!). I thought the 'oh hello' sentiment was perfect for the occasion.

Make sure you check out the rest of the team's creations this week!
