Oh Baby!

Hello!

I've been very busy the last couple of days making cards for my display board that feature products from the new catty (coming on July 2nd!), and I used some challenges to help me on the way. Two of them are the Colour Q and CAS(E) this Sketch! challenges...

I wanted to use one of the single stamps available until the end of August for this card so that's where I started...

There are SO many women pregnant at our church at the moment, baby cards are always useful! I also used one of the flowers from the Best of Flowers set, stamped in Pool Party and with a Summer Starfruit flower in the centre.

Here's the recipe:
Stamps: Oh Baby (single stamp), Best of Flowers, Flowering Flourishes, Love & Laughter
Ink: Wisteria Wonder, Basic Grey, Pool Party, Summer Starfruit
Paper: Quatrefoil Fancy dsp, Basic Grey, Summer Starfruit, Whisper White
Tools: Bird punch, corner rounder punch, 1 1/4" scalloped circle punch, needlepoint embossing folder, Summer Starfruit resin dahlia

Beach Portrait Mashup...

Hiya!

This week at the Friday Mashup Lili is bringing us a fun themed challenge...

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  1. Create a project using the "Masking Technique".
  2. Create a project with some "Beach elements".
  3. Or Mash it Up and create a "Beach'y project using Masking".
I don't actually own any stamps that include any beach elements but fortunately I had borrowed 'By the Tide' from my friend Heather so I used the shell image from that, together with a LOT of masking...

I stamped the frame from Papaya Collage onto Whisper White with stazon first of all, then masked off the inside with sticky notes. I stamped one shell in the corner using Baked Brown Sugar ink, then created a shell mask, attached it over the top and stamped another one, then covered that with another shell mask. I then brayered some Soft Sky ink in the top section, masked off a straight 'horizon' line as well as a torn 'sand' line, then brayered in between with Marina Mist and Tempting Turquoise ink. I then put the reverse of the torn mask back on and sponged So Saffron, Crumb Cake and a bit of Baked Brown Sugar ink to create the sand. When all the sticky note masks were removed I had a lovely little beach scene sitting inside my frame! I stamped another shell in Baked Brown Sugar on Shimmery White card and went over it with an aqua brush to blend the ink a little, then cut it out and popped it over the corner of the frame using dimensionals. The sentiment is from Trust God, stamped in Stazon over the background (I wasn't happy with the intensity of the colour though to I went back and traced over it with a Basic Black marker).

The background was a little idea I had to make it look like a weather-boarded beach house... I stamped the Woodgrain Background on Smoky Slate with Smoky Slate ink, then cut into strips to make the boards. I lightly sponged around the edges of each strip then assembled them onto a piece of card, alternating the placement to create the boarded effect (kinda another version of the brick wall technique from a couple of weeks ago). I 'hung' the picture on the wall using some white baker's twine and an antique brad.

Make sure you check out the other beach-y creations of the design team (although, be warned: they may make you want to go on holiday lol!).

In Colour Meadow...

Hello!

I recently had the opportunity to stamp out a couple of images using the Wildflower Meadow stamp, which is coming in our new catty on the 2nd of June. At our Bristol SU training day, Hayley showed us how to use inks and a blender pen to ink up a stamp (like a marker but with a softer finish) so I tried that, embossed it with the matching embossing folder and took it home so I could make something with it. When I saw the current Fab Friday challenge I knew this would be perfect as I had used the new In Colours to ink up the stamp...

Here's what I ended up with after adding a few bits and pieces to the coloured image...

I added a scalloped strip of Baked Brown Sugar card and some white organza ribbon that I dyed with Crisp Cantaloupe ink (love this effect!) and I also added a little bit of a doily in the corner behind the ribbon. The sentiment (from Happy Day) was stamped on Vellum with Stazon then I added sticky strip above and below and covered with Dazzling Diamonds glitter. I couldn't resist adding a little flower embellishment made with the new clay and molds!

Tropical Fusion...

Hiya!

After a busy couple of weeks prepping for classes, I had a bit of time on Saturday evening to have a play with some goodies, and the first card I made used the inspiration and sketch from this week's Fusion Card Challenge...

I translated the colours from the inspiration pic into Bermuda Bay, Strawberry Slush, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie and Wild Wasabi for a very tropical-feely card...

I stamped the images from Summer Silhouettes on Whisper White, first inking them up with Versamark, then before stamping I inked with the classic ink pad. This means the ink stays sticky for long enough to emboss with clear EP. I also over-stamped the leaves with Versamark and double embossed (because the second stamping was slightly off-set it gave a cool highlight effect. After stamping and embossing I sponged over the top with Bermuda Bay ink, all over the Whisper White panel, then wiped off any excess ink. To get the mottled effect, I flicked water over the top and dabbed with a piece of paper towel... very cool effect hey?! (Thanks Hayley for the tutorial on ink-flicking at training... I adapted what you showed us to try it with water to remove ink rather than add it!) I stamped the pattern from the same set under the flowers with Bermuda Bay (can you see it between the ribbon and dsp?) for one of the strips from the sketch.

I stamped some flowers and leaves on Whisper White and cut out with my paper snips, added some Daffodil Delight ribbon and layered the flowers over the top with a couple of rhinestones in the centres. The dsp layer is from Quatrefoil Fancy and I added a sentiment flag underneath (from Apothecary Art).

Hope you have an awesome week ahead!

Triple Time Mosaic...

Hiya!

This week's Friday Mashup challenge is brought to us by Amanda, and combines a technique and a colour scheme...

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  1. Create a project using 3 of the following colors "Crumb Cake, Summer Starfruit, Pacific Point or Daffodil Delight".
  2. Create a project with the "Triple Time Stamping Technique".
  3. Or Mash it Up and create a "Triple Time Stamped Project with 3 of the above colors".
I wanted to try to include embossing in my background 'triple time' panel, so I pulled out the Mosaic folder from the coming new catty and the coordinating stamp set and came up with this...

I used the You're Amazing stamp set for the greeting and balloon, as well as Mosaic Madness for the background. I used a combination of Crumb Cake, Whisper White and Versamark inks to create the background over the embossed Crumb Cake panel. I added some Daffodil Delight washi tape as well as an arrow clip to finish things off.

Make sure you check out the rest of the creations from the design team - it would be great to have you join us for this challenge!

Brick Wall Mashup...

Hello!

This week over at the Friday Mashup, Tara's got a cool technique for us to play with...

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  1. Create a project using the "Sketch".
  2. Create a project using the "Brick Wall Technique".
  3. Or Mash it Up and create a project using the "Sketch with the Brick Wall Technique".

I wanted to try something masculine with this technique so I pulled out a new set I got recently but haven't used yet - Zoo Review...

I created the brick wall backdrop with a piece of Very Vanilla, stamped with one of the trees from Lovely as a Tree a couple of times with Sahara Sand, then cut up into 'bricks' and sponged, then put back together on Baked Brown Sugar cardstock. The giraffe was stamped and coloured with Baked Brown Sugar ink then fussy cut and layered over the top with dimensionals. The dsp in the background is the Epic Day This & That collection. I added a piece of washi tape and a torn border in Crushed Curry card, as well as the sentiment from Teeny Tiny wishes.

Make sure you check out the creations from the rest of the design team this week!

Simple Field Flowers...

Hi there,

I made a quick CAS card the other day combining two challenges: the colours over at Paper Pal Arts, as well as the layout from this week's Case this Sketch...

I pulled out the pretty Field Flowers stamp set and came up with this...

Yes, there's some fussy cutting, but the rest is pretty simple! I used a new stamp set from the new SU catty coming in July called Label Love (one of my favourite sets from the new catty!), as well as the coordinating punch.

Here's the recipe:
Stamps: Field Flowers, Label Love, Summer Silhouettes
Ink: Gumball Green, Primrose Petals
Paper: Primrose Petals, Naturals White, Whisper White
Accessories: Gumball Green ribbon, pearls
Tools: Artisan Label punch

I hope you're having a great week... Thanks for stopping by!

Smoky, soft flower...

Hello!

I have a quick creation to share with you today, using some new goodies and a couple of challenges: the Freshly Made Sketch and the Colour Q challenge...

I used the Best of Flowers set as well as a new embossing folder coming in our brand new catty in July (can't wait!)...

I stamped the flower on Whisper White and coloured with inks and an aqua brush - the sentiment was stamped underneath (from Blooming with Kindness). I added some banner tails underneath using some new dsp (Quatrefancy) and the Itty Bitty banner dies. The background is the new colour Smoky Slate, embossed with the Modern mosaic embossing folder. I finished things off with some Whisper White ribbon (dyed with reinker) and an antique brad.

Girly Hexagon Mashup...

Hiya,

It's time for another Friday Mashup challenge and this week Erica's got a fun combo for us...

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  1. Create a project using "Hexagons".
  2. Create a "Girly project".
  3. Or Mash it Up and create a "Girly project using Hexagons".
I wanted to use a couple of new bits and pieces from the sneak peek goodies us demos were allowed to order from the new catty coming in July, so with that in mind I came up with this...

It features a new colour (Crisp Cantaloupe) as well as a couple of new stamp sets (Mosaic Madness and Happy Day). I also included a piece of new Gingham Garden washi tape as well as some buttons I made with the AWESOME new clay & molds - love these to bits!! The flowers are from the Best of Flowers set, stamped on Melon Mambo card and embossed with white EP.

I used a couple of other challenges to help me with this: the sketch from Mojo Monday as well as the Colour Throwdown this week...

Make sure you check out what the rest of the design team have created this week!

Dynamic Portrait...

Hi there,

I was excited to see Stampin' Up's latest promotion in the UK - the 'Best Of' series. My sweet downline Claire lent me her Best of Flowers set to play with and so I wanted to make a few things showing the fab images in this set. I started with the silhouette image and combined the colours over at Dynamic Duos with the Deconstructed Sketch this week...

These colours reminded me of a sunset so I used the emboss resist technique to create a little picture...

I stamped the flowers on Whisper White with versamark and embossed with clear EP, then sponged over the top with Wisteria Wonder and Raspberry Ripple inks. I used the rectangle designer frame embossing folder to create the frame around it. The background is Wisteria Wonder stamped with Flowering Flourishes in Whisper White ink. The banner piece is a combination of Basic Grey card and vellum, scored a few times in the middle for a bit of added detail.

I'm going to keep it short and sweet today - hope you had a great Monday!

Banner of thanks...

Hiya,

I had some time to play over the weekend so I've got a few cards to share over the coming week. The first one is a combination of the Colour Q colours as well as the Freshly Made Sketch this week...

I pulled out the This & That Epic Day papers for this one (really love these!!)...

I made a little banner for my focal point using the Hearts a Flutter stamp set and coordinating dies. I used a greeting from Perfect Pennants embossed with white EP on Real Red card and die-cut with the heart die. I added some vintage faceted buttons, a punched flower and some Real Red taffeta ribbon to the banner, and a strip of lave tape to the Daffodil dsp panel.

Thanks for stopping by - hope you're having a fab weekend!
