A Christmas Coffee...

Hi there!

I'm playing along with this month's Holiday Coffee Lover's Blog Hop (a new challenge for me!) and combined this challenge with Verve's Inspiration challenge this month: A Cup of Kindness (not too difficult to link these two challenges!!)...

I decided to use Verve's free digi stamp set this month - the first time I've used a digi set! And it was easier than I thought (I know... it probably sounds easy to everyone else, but I'm a hard-core stamping fan so digi-anything is a bit of a stretch for me!). I used a few copics to colour the cute cups and combined them with one of the sentiments to come up with this...

I have WAY too much Christmas dsp (well... all dsp let's be honest!) so I dug through my collection and put a few pieces of unrelated pieces together for the background of this. Some ribbon and rhinestones finished things off.

A Rustic Winter Scene...

Hiya!

It's time for another ColourQ challenge and this week's colours are very festive...

I wanted to play with SU's Sleighride Edgelits dies, which are just FAB! And these colours worked really well - this card came together surprisingly quickly (for me!)...

I used the Endless Wishes retired set for the sentiment and snowflakes - the rest is just card cut with the edgelits with a couple of Real Red embellishments - simple!

Fab Festive Trees

Hello!

I'm a bit late in sharing my ColourQ card this week - this week is a hectic one! Here's the beautiful colour combination...

I need to crack on with making my Christmas cards so I decided to use these colours to create something festive...

The colours in this photo are not very accurate because the only time I had to take the photo was in bright sunshine (overcast natural light is best!). The trees are embossed with gold EP and I added some glittery stars and Calypso Coral seam binding ribbon to finish.

I used this fab sketch from the Fab Friday challenge...

A Duo of Gratitude...

Hi there!

It's time for another ColourQ challenge and this week's combination is a lovely one...

I love the wood element - so fun! I pulled out some Kaisercraft dsp, including a piece with wooden planks on it, then got carried away and made two cards!

I used a couple of Verve sets for the sentiments, added some Stampin Up ribbon and some die-cut butterflies from Sizzix and voila! I used this Viva la Verve sketch again for my layout (some sketches are just so useful you can return to them over and over again!)...

Make sure you check out the fabulous inspiration from the rest of the Design Team this week!

Vintage Thanks...

Hiya!

I'm popping in quickly to share a litle vintage thank you card I made using this week's Viva la Verve sketch...

I've had an order of thank you cards and of course I don't have enough masculine ones, so I spent some time yesterday creating some. This one used some Vintage Kaisercraft papers and Verve stamps...

Papertrey November Blog Hop Challenge

Hiya!

I thought I would join in the fun at this month's Papertrey Ink blog hop with this gorgeous inspiration photo...

I loved the colours and the baubles so I used PTI's Star of Wonder, along with a couple of others, to create this...

I stamped the circular images onto cardstock with Versamark then embossed with glittery embossing powder and then punched out with a 1 3/4" circle punch. The background was embossed with an old embossing folder I've had for years and the sentiment is a mixture of one of the frame stamps from the Mat Stack 2 collection, together with a sentiment from Christmas Poinsettia. I finished the baubles off with some bakers twine and satin ribbon. This card looks much more shimmery and sparkly IRL - one day I would love to learn how to photograph my cards properly!!

Rustic Butterflies...

Hiya!

It's time for another great ColourQ challenge and this week's colours are lovely and rustic...

I was looking through my paper and spotted a tag from Kaisercraft that featured these colours nicely so I used that as my focal point...

Of course, I had to add a couple of extra butterflies! They were cut from some matching dsp. I distressed the edges of the card layers and added a sentiment from Verve as well as some pearls to finish. I used the Viva la Verve sketch this week for my layout...

Grateful for You...

Hiya!

It's time for another fab ColourQ challenge and this week's colours are so pretty together...

I pulled out a set that I just {HAD} to have when it came out - Lovely Layers by Papertrey - but have barely used it since I got it (does anyone else do this??!). I had such fun creating the flower focal point for this card, I'm definitely gonna have to use this set more!

I pulled out a Project Life card for the layer behind the flower for the splash of orange, and stamped a border stamp from Verve in the background with white craft ink on Wisteria Wonder card. I used the Sweet Sunday Sketch this week for my layout...

Masculine thank you

Hiya,

This week's colours at the ColourQ are lovely and autumnal...

There's lots you could do with these and I chose to go in a masculine direction with a thank you card (I always need more thank you cards and it's always the guys' ones I don't seem to have enough of!).

Once again, my starting point was my dsp stash - I found a few pieces of this old SU paper that was perfect for these colours, added a few leaves, some twine and a button and voila! The sketch comes from Viva la Verve this week (I do love their layouts!)...

Cast Your Cares...

Hiya!

It's time for another great ColourQ challenge - check out this week's colours...

The napkin in the photo reminded me of some old dsp I had in my stash, and when I pulled it out I was pleased with how close it was to this palette...

I found a little scrap of Raspberry Ripple card that a used with the butterflies die, and added some Kaisercraft pearls to the centre of each. The scripture stamp is from Verve, stamped on Naturals Ivory and cut with one of the MFT stitched circle stax dies. I added a piece of vellum behind the patterned paper as I was playing around with some scraps and quite liked the look of the vellum softening the combination of layers.

The layout is from Viva la Verve's sketch this week...

Rosie Posie Thanks...

Hello!

I'm popping in to share my ColourQ card with you today - the colours are Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive, Tangerine Tango & Basic Black (the graphic is a Halloween one, which I'm not a fan of, so I went in a different direction with my card)...

I was looking through my stamp collection and saw this Papertrey Rosie Posie set, which I haven't used in ages, so I decided to get that inky this week! I used the Viva la Verve sketch this week for my layout and used a sentiment from an old Verve set (which I think is retired now)...

Welcome back

Hiya!

I was asked to make a welcome back card for our church pastors who have been in the States for the last few months, so I pulled out some Webster's Pages paper that had hot air balloons on it (to represent Bristol, where we live) and another piece that had a star and stripes to link the two locations together...

I used a Viva la Verve sketch for my layout...

The greeting and swirl is from the fabulous Blue Skies set from Verve.

So Special...

Hi there!

It's time for another fun ColourQ challenge and this week we've got a pink palette as October is breast cancer awareness month...

I pulled out some more Kaisercraft papers with two tones of pink together with some matching butterflies from the same collection (ok I think someone needs to stop me putting butterflies on ALL my projects!)...

I used one of the Viva la Verve sketches from this month for my layout...

When I was going through my photos I spotted a notebook that I made ages ago with these same colours so I thought I'd share it here as a little bonus!

Tiger Lily Butterflies...

Hello!

After a break from playing along with the ColourQ team last week I'm back to share this week's challenge...

I was reminded of some Kaisercraft papers and die-cuts that had orange tones in them so I pulled our the Tiger Lily collection and this card came together REALLY quickly...

I used the Jeremiah 29:11 stamp from Verve for the scripture. I know this scripture is one that a lot of people know (it's one of those favourite scriptures that many like to remember to encourage themselves and others) - but the thing that I'm realising more and more is that this verse really is the heartbeat of God from the beginning to end of Scripture. He wants to give us a hope and a future - all He requires is that we follow His plan, not ours, for our lives!

Be-YOU-tiful Mojo cards...

Hiya!

After a busy couple of weeks I took some time on Friday afternoon to get creative (boy did I need it!). I managed to make a few cards, a decorated notebook and a double-page spread in my journaling bible. I'll share some more creations in the next few days, but for now I wanted to share my Mojo Monday cards. Here is the first one, which stayed pretty true to the sketch...

I used Kaisercraft's Be-YOU-tiful range of papers and die-cut collectibles for this, with NO stamping (shocking, I know!). While I had these gorgeous papers out I decided to make another card for my collection. This one took a few liberties with the sketch, but was still designed with the Mojo layout in mind...

Here's the Mojo sketch this week...

Changes... Adventure Awaits!

Hiya!

So those of you who are long-time visitors of my blog may have noticed some changes over the past few months... namely in the lack of Stampin' Up focus in my projects. That's because I am now no longer a Stampin' Up demonstrator. This is not because I don't like SU or their products any more (trust me, I could still fill a shopping basket with stamps, dies and accessories!) but God has been leading my on a journey over the past year.

Towards the end of last year I felt God leading me to stop my SU business - at the time I didn't really understand it and to be honest I wrestled with the decision because I loved being a demonstrator, in particular meeting some wonderful people at parties and classes, not to mention playing with great products! But what had happened along the course of the years is that what was supposed to be a hobby turned into a business, and while there's nothing wrong with that, for me it meant I was spending time working that I should have been spending resting or relaxing (something I'm not particularly good at anyway!). So after a bit of internal turmoil I obeyed God and stopped running my SU business. I still hold occasional classes to connect with some of my favourite peeps I have met along the way, but it's for fun now!

Earlier this year I stumbled upon (or rather, God led me to!) a rather wonderful movement that was sweeping the world called Illustrated Faith. This involved illustrating in your bible around particular scriptures or things that God is speaking to you. When I saw some of the amazing examples, particularly from Shanna Noel, the founder of Illustrated Faith, I was hooked. I already had a journalling bible to make notes in, but I had never thought of drawing, painting or STAMPING in my bible! This combination of creativity with the Word of God brought two of my dearest passions together in one and all I can say is that I love it! I love exploring new ways of creating whilst meditating on scripture because it really allows the Word to soak into your soul.

Here's an example from my bible of a page I did inspired by another inspirational bible artist, Rebekah Jones...

You might notice some Stampin Up products on this one! That's the wonderful thing about this hobby/art form - you can use so many supplies you already have. In the last few months Illustrated Faith have started releasing some amazing stamp sets specifically for bible journalling and as a stamper I just had to add some to my collection {grin!}. I decided this week to use some of those stamps to make a card, as I was reminded that I can still make cards using faith-based products (doesn't have to just be about Christmas and birthdays!). So I made a card that represents where I am creatively, as well as in the next season of my life as I pursue my desire to study theology further. I have no idea how it's going to happen, but God does - and I trust that He will make a way where there seems to be no way...

I used the Illustrated Faith Explore stamp set for this, with some masking and paper piecing techniques for the mountains. I added some Illustrated Faith Say It stickers and a few rhinstones as well (love me some embellishments!).

So after that long post I just wanted to say that things may look a little different around here... I want to share some more bible journalling pages and talk about what God has said in His Word, but of course I will also be posting cards I make using a variety of different products that I enjoy using.

I hope you'll stick with me and enjoy the journey!

Birthday Forest Friend...

Hello!

It's time for another fun ColourQ challenge and this week's colours are a lovely bright combination...

I went rummaging through my retired designer paper collection for this one and found some dsp that had Riding Hood Red, Pumpkin Pie and So Saffron (close enough to the colours in the pic!) so I decided start with that...

I used a couple of other challenges to give me some inspiration - the Forest Friends theme from The Card Concept and the TGIF Monthly Remix (I combined the sketch with the birthday theme). Sometimes I need a lot of help with putting my card together when the ideas aren't flowing!!

Once I had the colours, sketch and theme, I broke out the old owl punch and got happy with my layers! I found a bit of old Kiwi Kiss card in my stash to cut the leaf swirl from (from MFT).

Make sure you check out the fabulous inspiration fromt the rest of the Royal Court this week!

Vintage Greys..

Hi there!

This week's ColourQ palette is moving into an autumnal feel, and I just love these colours together...

I really wanted to do a tone-on-tone grey background when I saw this combination, so I started with that, and ended up with this...

I used a combination of a current SU set (Vintage Leaves) with the coordinating dies, together with an old retired background stamp and a Verve sentiment. I had to use Hello Honey and Cajun Craze for the leaves as I don't have ink in the other colours.

When I saw the sketch at Viva la Verve this week, I just couldn't resist using it for this, considering the layout was perfect for the leaves to be a focal point (and the sketch even had some of these colours!)...

I'm sure the rest of the ColourQ Royal Court have got some fabulous samples to inspire you with today - make you you check them out!
