Christmas in July!

Hiya!

This week the Friday Mashup is getting festive with a challenge from Lisa...

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  1. Create a project for "Christmas / Hanukkah".
  2. Create a project with "Stripes".
  3. Or Mash it Up and create a "Christmas / Hanukkah project with Stripes".

The stripes bit of this challenge had me thinking because I don't have a lot of the new dsp yet and none of the stuff I do have has stripes in it so I thought maybe I could use the stripes embossing folder, but I wasn't feeling it! I eventually found a piece of the Naturals Composition paper that has a stripe on it, looked up Baked Brown Sugar in the colour coach (which I think is closer to the NC paper than Crumb Cake), found a Christmas combo and was good to go!

I used the ornaments from Ornament Keepsakes, stamped with Garden Green and Cherry Cobbler, strung them together with linen thread and then layered a ticket greeting over the top. That panel was layered on Champagne glimmer paper then onto Garden Green card. The Cherry Cobbler panel in the background is core'dinations card that I embossed and sanded. I couldn't resist adding some of the lush new chevron ribbon in Pear Pizzazz!

I used the Mojo Monday sketch to help me on this one...

Make sure you check out the other Christmassy creations from the rest of the design team!

Calypso Butterfly Banners...

Hi there!

I whipped up a card last night for a couple of challenges: the PPA sketch and the Dynamic Duos colour combo...

This one came together pretty quickly with the suggested 'butterfly theme' from Dynamic Duos!

I stamped the Calypso Coral card with the flower from Blooming with Kindness using Calypso Coral ink repeatedly to create the background pattern. The banner strips are from the Modern Medley dsp and I layered a sentiment banner from the hostess set Amazing You over the top one. The butterfly is from Backyard Basics, stamped and embossed with black EP on watercolour paper then die-cut and coloured with an aqua painter and Calypso Coral ink. I layered it on a 1 3/4" circle punch that I pierced around the edge, then onto a doily shape (from the Delicate Doilies Sizzlit die). I couldn't resist adding a few pearls to finish.

That's all for now... I hope you have a wonderful week ahead!

Backyard Mashup...

Hiya,

This week at the Friday Mashup Heidi has given us a fun sketch to work with, as well as challenging us to use our favourite new stamp set (this one's not difficult folks!)...

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  1. Create a project using the "Sketch".
  2. Create a project with a "Favorite New Stamp Set".
  3. Or Mash it Up and create a project "using the Sketch with your Favorite NEW Stamp Set".
I couldn't resist using Backyard Basics and the coordinating framelits - LOVE! I interpreted the chevron strip by using some of the gorgeous new chevron ribbon...

Oh how I love to colour, and the stamps in this set are perfect for doing just that! I used an aqua painter and inkpads for this image - cut out perfectly with the matching framelit. I layered the flowers on a labels shape (which I pierced using the coordinating template) then onto an Apothecary Accents piece from Island Indigo card. The background was stamped with the doily from Happy Day with Bermuda Bay ink, using first and second generation stamping. I added the Island Indigo ribbon and Bermuda Bay candy dots to embellish. As a final touch I sponged some Raspberry Ripple ink around the white card base to coordinate with the flowers.

I used the colours from the Colour Q challenge this week to help me...

Make sure you check out the fab creations from the rest of the design team this week!

Elegant Eleanor...

Hi there,

I made a quick card this afternoon for a couple of challenges - when I saw the CAS(E) this Sketch challenge and the PPA colour challenge I saw them working together really well...

I used the Everything Eleanor set and kept it pretty simple (well as simple as I get!)...

I stamped the label image with Midnight Muse on Very Vanilla then embossed over the top with one of the designer frames folders. I stamped a couple of flowers with Cherry Cobbler and cut out with my paper snips. The sentiment is from the new hostess set Amazing You, stamped on Naturals Ivory with Midnight Muse. I stamped the swirl with Versamark and embossed with clear EP for a subtle background, then added a few pearls to finish.

That's all for now - hope you had a good weekend wherever you are!

Mojo Hexagon Throwdown...

Hello there!

I wanted to play around with some new goodies as well as a few challenges this afternoon, so I combined the Color Throwdown colours with this week's Mojo Monday sketch...

I kept this one pretty simple (unusual for me!) and clean-looking...

For some reason the white card in the background looks dull (must have been the light) in the photo, which is a shame, as it's nice and white IRL.

Here's the recipe:
Stamps: Flower Shop, Six Sided Sampler, Simply Sketched
Ink: Bermuda Bay, So Saffron, Strawberry Slush
Paper: Bermuda Bay & Strawberry Slush core-dinations card, So Saffron, Crumb Cake, Whisper White
Tools: Ovals framelits, Pansy Punch, Hexagon punch, honeycomb embossing folder, sanding block, Itty Bitty Banners framelits, Needlepoint border embossing folder, ovals piercing template, bird punch
Accessories: Simply Pressed clay & button mold, rhinestones

I'm keeping it short and sweet today peeps - lots to do!

Hope you're enjoying your weekend!

Wildflower Backyard Mashup...

Hiya!

It's time for another Friday Mashup challenge and this week we've got a lovely colour challenge featuring some new colours...

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  1. Create a project using the colors "Pool Party, Crisp Cantaloupe, Calypso Coral & (Smoky Slate or Soft Suede) ".
  2. Create a project with a "Nature Theme".
  3. Or Mash it Up and create a "Nature Themed project using the Challenge Colors".
I used a panel that I had stamped and embossed at a training event recently with the Wildflower Meadow stamp and coordinating embossing folder...

I added a doily, some Pool Party cardstock, smoky slate chevron ribbon and some Calypso Coral candy dots. The bird is from Backyard Basics, stamped in Stazon on watercolour card and coloured with an aqua brush and reinker. Gotta love the matching framelits for this set!

This card also fits in with this week's Just Add Ink challenge to add water.

Make sure you check out the creations of the rest of the design team this week!

These are a few of my favourite things...

Hiya!

Are you singing the song..? I do love the Sound of Music and the title of my post always makes me want to start singing lol! Anyways, this week on the Friday Mashup it's my turn to host, and I've come up with a tic-tac-toe challenge that features a few of my favourite things to include on creative projects...

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  1. Create a project using a "line from the grid".
  2. Create a project with a "few of your Favorite things ( Stamps & Colors)".
  3. Or Mash it Up and create a project using the "Tic Tac Toe grid with a few of your Favorite Things".
So as well as choosing the row from the grid with flowers, butterflies and lace, I also included most (if not all!) of the others as well (I think the only one missing is ribbon... unless you count the linen thread!). I used one of my favourite stamp sets (Secret Garden) as well as my favourite colour (Pool Party) for this one...

I started by stamping the flower on watercolour card using versamark then embossing it with white EP. I then coloured it with an aquapainter and Calypso Coral ink, adding a vintage designer button in the centre with some linen thread and adding some die-cut leaves underneath. The dsp I've used is from the This & That Epic Day collection, from which I also die-cut a few butterflies using the Beautiful Wings embosslit die. I stamped the sentiment from Lovely Thoughts underneath with Basic Grey ink.

I used the layout from this week's Retro Sketches challenge to help me on this one...

Make sure you check out the stunning creations of the rest of the design team this week!

Modern Coastal Wedding...

Hiya!

I wanted to play along with a couple of challenges in my free time this afternoon so I combined the always fabulous Mojo Monday sketch (congrats Julee and the team on your 300th challenge!) with the Dynamic Duos colour challenge...

I decided to use my favourite new colour, Coastal Cabana, as my choice in addition to Basic Grey (and a couple of other neutrals)...

I must say, I'm really pleased with how this one turned out (particularly considering how long it took me to make lol!). I used the Love and Laughter set for the cake, reverse masked it with post-it notes and sponged inside with Coastal Cabana ink. I added some bling using rhinestones as well as a little Simply Pressed clay flower that I made with dyed Coastal Cabana clay. The sentiment is from the new Label Love set, trimmed out with my paper snips then layered onto a Coastal Cabana artisan label punched shape. The circle element is a die-cut Basic Grey doily, layered over a Basic Grey circle. The designer paper is the new Modern Medley paper (so versatile in vanilla and black), and the Coastal Cabana panel was stamped with a flourish from Flowering Flourishes. The background piece is Smoky Slate card, and all the panels were layered on Basic Grey.

Here's the recipe:
Stamps: Label Love, Love and Laughter, Flowering Flourishes
Ink: Coastal Cabana, Basic Grey
Paper: Modern Medley dsp, Coastal Cabana, Basic Grey, Smoky Slate, Very Vanilla
Tools: Artisan label punch, delicate doilies sizzlit, circles #2 die, simply pressed flower mold
Accessories: Lace trim, rhinestones, simply pressed clay

Washi tape sunshine...

Hi there!

I had fun playing around with SU's new washi tape the other day (I didn't think I was going to be 'into' this product, but it's surprisingly addictive!!) and I used the colour challenge from Create with Connie and Mary to get me started...

Funnily enough, these colours are the exact colours of the washi tape (do you think they planned it that way...?!) so it was a good place to start. I had the idea of using the sunshine sentiment from Feels Good and creating a sun with the stamps from Daydream Medallions... It was going to be a simple card at first, but then I got a bit carried away...

I ended up adding dsp, rhinestones, ribbon... oh well, that's just how I roll I guess!

Here's the recipe:
Stamps: Feels Good, Daydream Medallions
Ink: Night of Navy, Daffodil Delight
Paper: Quatrefoil Fancy dsp, Melon Mambo, Night of Navy, Whisper White
Accessories: Gingham Garden washi tape, rhinestones, Daffodil Delight seam binding ribbon
