Indigo Pool Garden...

Hello!

{Yikes, I've just realised that this didn't post earlier today - sorry about that! I think there may have been a problem with Blogger because I did press publish - oh dear!)

This week's Dynamic Duos colour combo is a pretty, monochromatic one...

I had a class this weekend using the Secret Garden set and so I had an idea to use these colours to create a watercolour background... which progressed to a triple-time technique combined with watercolour... well here's what I ended up with...

Here's the recipe:
Stamps: Secret Garden, Vintage Verses, Creative Elements, Papillion Potpourri
Ink: Pool Party, Island Indigo, Sahara Sand, Versamark
Paper: Whisper White, Pool Party, Island Indigo, Sahara Sand
Accessories: Vintage faceted button, Irridescent Ice embossing powder
Tools: Ovals framelits, Labels framelits, Secret Garden framelits, bitty butterfly punch, Needlepoint embossing folder

Spot the bunny...

Hiya,

It's Friday Mashup time again and this week Amanda's bringing us a great sketch...

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge:
  1. Make a project "using the Sketch".
  2. Or Make a project with "Bunnies".
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a project with the "Sketch featuring Bunnies".

At first, I thought I wouldn't be able to mash it up this week as I don't own any bunny stamps, however I remembered that I had stamped out a bunch of images from the hostess set Summer Afternoon at a demo training day last year, and there was a little bunny in one of those, so I dug the images out and went from there!

I punched the image out with a 2 1/2" circle punch, coloured in with markers as well as an aquabrush and inkpads, then layered on a Pool Party die-cut from the Perfect Pennants die. The dsp is from More Amore and the sentiment is a SAB one. I added some Always Artichoke seam binding as well as some flower trim (can't get enough of this stuff!) to finish things off. The colours are from this week's Colour Q challenge...

Make sure you check out the rest of the design team's creations!

Blue skies...

Hello!

Sorry to be a bit late posting my Dynamic Duos card this week - I've been at a demonstrator day having crafty fun and have just gotten home (hubby had cooked dinner bless him!) and begun to unwind... anyway, enough jibber jabber - here are this week's colours...

I ended up with something completely different to the idea I started with, but was quite happy with how it turned out..

I really wanted to use the new cloudy day embossing folder but mine didn't arrive in time, so I had to go to plan B - cupcakes! Yep, those clouds are the top of the cupcake from Create-a-Cupcake, some stamped in white ink and others embossed in white EP. I die-cut a frame in the middle of the turqouise panel with a window framelits die and popped this panel over a white of whisper white that I spritzed with Tempting Turqouise reinker and water. I stamped the boat (from Need for Speed) into the window then again on a separate piece, colouring with markers and then cutting out and popping it up over the first image with dimensionals.  The sentiment is from Up, up & away, stamped on Sahara Sand and layered with circle punches. I added a banner of turqouise card with some matching brads attached and layered this over a strip of Twitterpated dsp.

I used this week's Freshly Made Sketch for my layout...

Make sure you check out the fab creations of the rest of the design team!

And now for something completely different...

Hello!

This week's Dynamic Duos colour combo is a soft and pretty one...

As the title of my post indicated, I went in a direction very unusual for me... Clean and Simple! I've been inspired by my fellow DT member Deanna who makes the most amazing CAS cards with lots of white space, and so I decided to have a go using these colours...

And I'm actually really pleased with how it turned out, considering when I make CAS cards I always feel like I need to add more! The Blooming with Kindness stamp set made this really quick to make and I just added a couple of butterflies made with the Bloomin' Marvelous (SAB) butterfly stamp and bitty butterfly punch as well as the Elegant Butterfly punch using Pink Pirouette cardstock. I couldn't resist adding a few rhinestones to the centres of the butterflies! The embossed panel is the striped EF with a couple of scored lines above it - very quick to do!

And just because I'm in a 'different' mood I thought I'd share a scrapbook page with you (gasp!) as it's got Pool Party and Pink Pirouette as its main colours (with Lucky Limeade as well, so not my official DD project!). Now keep in mind I'm not a scrapbooker (unlike the amazing Bobbie!) so it's not my forte, but this is what I created for a class last year...

Yep, that's me on my wedding day, eleven and a half years ago (has it really been that long?!). I used a SU Simply Scrapping kit from last year's catty, and would heartily recommend the SS kits for scrapbooking - they make it a lot easier (for me at least!).

That's all from me - make sure you check out the lovely projects by the rest of the DT this week.

Thanks for stopping by...

It's time for Mash...

Hiya!

This week's Friday Mashup challenge is brought to us by Erica and she is bringing us a 'time' theme...

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge:

1. Make a project with a "Time Theme".
2. Or Make a project using the "Color Black".
3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a project with a " Time theme using the color Black".

When I saw this challenge coming up I quickly ordered the Clockworks stamp set (it's been on my wish list since the catty came out but other things kept jumping ahead of it!) and thankfully it came in time to make this card...

I was pretty pleased with how this one turned out considering I normally gravitate towards pretty things involving flowers and butterflies (not to mention ribbon!), so a man's card is always a challenge! I went with lots of neutrals (Sahara Sand, Basic Black, Very Vanilla and Naturals Ivory) as well as a metallic touch (silver embossing powder, brad and Smooch). The clock was created by stamping the frame on black and embossing it with silver EP, then cutting it out. The centre is very vanilla card, stamped with one of the grunge elements in Sahara Sand, then with the clock face and hands over the top in Stazon. I punched this out with a 1 1/4" circle punch and inked the edges in black ink. This was then glued to the frame, covered with Crystal Effects and (when dry) attached a silver brad throuh the middle. Here's a close up...

On the naturals ivory panel behind the clock I stamped the large grunge element using Sahara Sand ink. The Sahara Sand background was stamped with three of the small clock part stamps with Sahara Sand ink then spritzed with silver Smooch. The zigzag strip was embossed with the chevron EF then hand trimmed into the zigzag shape and spritzed with more Smooch. There's a tiny strip of silver glimmer paper die-cut with the pinking edgelit and an embossed sentiment from Curly Cute to finish things off. I used the current Fab Friday sketch for my layout...

Make sure you make time to see what the rest of the Friday Mashup designers have created!

Rosy Thank You...

Hello!

I hope you are having a good weekend, whatever you are doing... Mine is unusually quiet, which makes a nice change! I had some time to play yesterday, and so I combined a couple of challenges I had my eye on...

I used some new goodies from the Spring catalogue, which are now available for all - yay!

I used the Oh Hello stamp set, ovals framelits, Primrose Petals core'dinations cardstock as well as some of the fabulous flower trim (died on the top with Primrose Petals ink).

Here's the recipe:
Stamps: Oh Hello
Ink: Early Espresso, Primrose Petals, Pink Pirouette
Paper: Primrose Petals core'dinations, Early Espresso, Pink Pirouette, Raspberry Ripple, Very Vanilla, More Amore dsp
Accessories: Raspberry Ripple stitched ribbon, Pink Pirouette taffeta ribbon, flower trim, pearls, linen thread
Tools: Ovals framelits, oval piercing template, lacy brocade EF, corner punch

That's all for now... thanks for stopping by!

Dynamic Anniversary Heart...

Hi there,

Today's Dynamic Duos challenge is a bold and sassy one...

I wanted to use one of the beautiful hearts from the More Amore dsp with these colours, as well as Stippled Blossoms and this is what I ended up with...

I used the Freshly Made Sketch from this week for my layout:

I started by stamping the flower in Pretty in Pink then Real Red and cut it out. The leaves are from Secret Garden, stamped with River Rock and die-cut with the coordinating die. The tags in the background are cut from Naturals Ivory and River Rock card with the Two Tags die. The dsp is from Tea for Two, with a bit of First Edition in the corner. I added some Very Vanilla seam binding ribbon and an antique brad to the tag and a few pearls on the heart. The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes, stamped in Real Red and die-cut with the Itty Bitty Banens dies.

Make sure you check out the beautiful creations of the rest of the design team!

Handwritten garden...

Hiya!

It's time for another fun Friday Mashup challengr, and this week Lisa's got a colour combo for us with a twist...

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge:
  1. Make a project with the colors "Raspberry Ripple, Daffodil Delight & Old Olive".
  2. Or Make a project "Creating your own Sentiment (No Stamps, Stickers, Chipboard etc.).
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a project "With your own Sentiment using the Colors above".

I wanted to use some pretty paper from the new Print Poetry stack in the new Spring catty (out today!) as well as the gorgeous Secret Garden stamp set. I must admit through, the 'create your own sentiment' bit threw me for a bit... until I had an idea to use a word that was a bit of a 'in-word' amongst my sisters when I went to Australia...

Ok, so I admit, it's a bit random to most other people though! My sisters would say 'bodum!' to everything they saw that they liked (a piece of clothing, home furnishing or a good-looking guy lol!). Well, one of my sisters has just moved into a new house (actually the other two have too... maybe I should make another one..?!) so I thought it would be funny to make her a house-warming card for her new house... it'll certainly make her smile! I found it a lot easier to handwrite the sentiment with the lines on the dsp in the background!

Here's the recipe:
Stamps: Secret Garden
Paper: Print Poetry dsp, Raspberry Ripple, Daffodil Delight, Very Vanilla
Ink: Raspberry Ripple, Old Olive, markers
Tools: large scallop edgelit, delicate designs embossing folder, Secret Garden framelits
Accessories: Old Olive striped organdy ribbon, pearls

The design team have come up with some great inspiration against for you this week - be sure to check them put over at the Friday Mashup!

Thanks for stopping by!
