Watercoloured leaves...

Hiya!

It's time for another fun ColourQ challenge and this week's colours have got a lovely autumnal feel to them...

I thought I'd try something a bit different and create some leaves using the Autumn Accents die and some watercolour paper, so I got out my aquabrush and inks and had some fun creating this...

I used the Hand Stamped Sentiments sketch for my layout...

Here's the recipe:
Stamps: Gorgeous Grunge, Dictionary, Everyday Occasions kit
Ink: Island Indigo, Old Olive, Tangerine Tango, Chocolate Chip
Paper: Watercolour, Whisper White, Island Indigo, Chocolate Chip, watercolour dsp
Accessories: Chocolate Chip chevron ribbon, linen thread, gold button, neutrals candy dots
Tools: Autumn Accents bigz die, Finishing touches edgelits

Inky Eclectic Butterflies...

Hiya!

My sister was visiting me this weekend and today we had a bit of creative time - she made a gift for her friend and I made a card for a couple of challenges - the sketch from Just Add Ink and the Colour Me combination...

I just love this sketch and I couldn't resist using butterflies so I grabbed my Kinda Eclectic set and got inky...

The butterflies were stamped, punched and then I tied some gold baker's twine around the centre in a bow. I played around with the background by sponging Daffodil Delight and Bermuda Bay inks onto a piece of watercolour paper, followed by the dots from Kinda Eclectic with Gold Encore ink, then ran it through the Big Shot with the Mosaic embossing folder and finally swiped around the edge with Whisper White ink. The sentiment from Big News was embossed with black EP onto vellum and wrapped around the inked background panel.

Here's the recipe:
Stamps: Kinda Eclectic, Big News
Ink: Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight, Real Red, Tangerine Tango, Versamark, Gold Encore
Paper: Watercolour, Whisper White Naturals Ivory, Bermuda Bay, Vellum
Accessories: gold baker's twine
Tools: Mosaic embossing folder, Elegant Butterfly Punch, Bitty Butterfly Punch, Banners framelits

Eclectic Happy Home...

Hiya!

Sorry it's been a bit quiet around here lately - I've been having a very busy season at work and have not had much time for creating and posting. Thankfully, I did manage to get some time on Sunday afternoon to make my ColourQ card this week - check out this combo...

I really wanted to play with the Holiday Home set from the Autumn/Winter catty (one of my favourites!) and thought these colours would work to create some houses. This is what I ended up with...

The houses were stamped on Naturals Ivory, die-cut with the matching framelits and coloured with an aquabrush, inkpads and markers. I added a little hill underneath using a portion of one of the large hearts framelits. The sun is from Kinda Eclectic and I created the sentiment by bending it on the block (one of the many advantages of photopolymer stamps!), stamping it and then die-cutting with one of the Bitty Banners framelits.

I used the Deconstructed Sketch for my layout...

Vivid Pieced Vases...

Hiya!

This week's ColourQ combo is a fun and funky one... check it out:

I  wanted to use some Blendabilities for the Calypso Coral/Blushing Bride colours so I looked for a stamp in my collection that would work and decided on Vivid Vases. I was originally going to colour the whole image but then decided to have fun with a bit of paper piecing...

Each vase was stamped on dsp and trimmed out, then sponged lightly with the matching ink to get the shading.

I used this week's CAS(E) this Sketch layout to help me...

Here's the recipe:
Stamps: Vivid Vases, Itty Bitty Banners
Ink: Memento black, Blackberry Bliss, Hello Honey, Blendabilities (Calypso Coral, Skin Tones)
Paper: In Colour dsp, Whisper White, Hello Honey, Blushing Bride, Vellum, Blackberry Bliss
Accessories: Calypso Coral seam binding, rhinestones
Tools: Banners framelits, Bitty Banners framelits

Seasonally Sponged Thanks...

Hi there,

I'm preparing some swaps for a SU training event I'm going to on Saturday and thought I'd use some challenges to give me some inspiration... So I combined the Friday Mashup sketch and 'emboss resist' technique with the Paper Players' theme this week...

I wanted to keep things simple (well as simple as I can lol!) so I focused on the beautiful sentiment from Seasonally Scattered and some autumnal dsp...

Here's the recipe:
Stamps: Seasonally Scattered, Gorgeous Grunge
Ink: versamark, Sahara Sand, Cajun Craze, Old Olive, Crushed Curry, Soft Suede
Paper: Colour Me Autumn dsp, Sahara Sand, Mossy Measow, Very Vanilla
Tools & Accessories: Angled Tag Topper Punch, clear embossing powder, sponge daubers

Owl Awesomeness...

Hello!

It's time for another great ColourQ challenge and this week we get to play with some of this year's In Colours with this pretty combination...

I already had a little Project Life card in Hello Honey that I had stamped with this fab sentiment with Smoky Slate ink, ready to make up a card, but it had been sitting in my 'unfinished pile' for weeks. When I saw the combo I knew I wanted to use it so I grabbed my owl punch and got to work...

Tee hee!! So cute! I actually made this with my sister in mind as she has just gotten a LONG overdue promotion so I wanted to send her something to say congrats - she loves owls and yellow so this is perfect for her (hopefully!). I used the sketch from Fab Friday for my layout, but I had to make a bit of larger card than usual to accommodate the PL card - the finished card is 7x5".

Here's the recipe:
Stamps: Big News
Ink: Smoky Slate (inkpad and Blendabilities)
Paper: Happiness Is Project Life collection, Moonlight dsp, Blackberry Bliss, Naturals White, So Saffron, Smoky Slate
Accessories: Hello Honey ribbons, Subtles buttons
Tools: Flower Frenzy die, Owl builder punch

Make sure you check out the inspiration from the rest of the design team this week - we'd love to have you play along with us too!

Mojo Bauble...

Hiya!

I'm popping in quickly to share a card I made with the latest Mojo Monday sketch using the fabulous Christmas Bauble single stamp from the Autumn/Winter catty...

Here's the sketch:

As you can see I used the big silver satin bow for my circle element and added the bauble (coloured with Blendabilities and cut out) and the little sentiment banner. The papers are from the All is Calm dsp collection (so many pretty patterns in that one!). I added some sequins and silver Dazzling Details for a bit of bling!

Here's the recipe:
Stamps: Christmas Bauble, Petite Pairs
Ink: Black Memento, Versamark, Blendabilities (Smoky Slate, Old, Olive, Cherry Cobbler, Coastal Cabana)
Paper: All is Calm dsp, Pear Pizzazz, Basic Grey, Whisper White
Accessories: Frosted sequins, Silver Dazzling Details, silver satin ribbon
Tools: Project Life corner punch, banner framelit

BeYOUtiful Garden...

Hello!

Well, we are back from holiday and back into work and this week has been BUSY so far (good busy, but still doesn't leave a lot of time for crafty things!). Thankfully I had some time on the weekend to play with the ColourQ palette this week - it's so pretty!

When I saw the different colours with the splash of green I immediately thought of flowers, and while I have a LOT of flower sets {lol}, I decided to go with Corner Garden because it is so beautiful and I think I need to push myself to use it in different ways (I took rather a long time colouring it with Blendabilities and then wondered how often I'd have the time to do that, so I wanted to look for other options as well!). I'm actually thinking of doing an online class to download with some different projects using this set - do let me know if you would be interested in seeing something like that! Anyway, enough rambling... here's what I came up with using these colours...

I decided to just use a portion of the image and use it in a different orientation than it is shown on the reference picture (I know you can do that with most stamps but does anyone else ever just get stuck with the 'standard' layout of something and forget to move things around??). I was inspired by the PPA layout this week...

I cut out the large flower in the corner and popped up a couple of layers for my circular element as shown in the sketch. The square panels were cut out using square framelits (the largest plain square as well as the scalloped one). The Corner Garden image was stamped on Naturals Ivory card then embossed with white embossing powder and coloured with an aqua brush and inkpads. I added a sentiment from Flower Patch and a couple of blinged-up butterflies from Papillon Potpourri to finish. I also added little dots with the white chalk pen around the scalloped square.

Here's the recipe:
Stamps: Corner Garden, Papillon Potpourri, Flower Patch
Ink: Night of Navy, Bermuda Bay, Strawberry Slush, Old Olive, Versamark
Paper: Naturals White, Night of Navy, Bermuda Bay, Whisper White
Accessories: rhinestones, white chalk marker, white embossing powder
Tools: Squares framelits, Bitty Butterfly punch
